BlueBee

In development

Hear one shared audio source together, with each person listening through their own device and headphones.

Overview

What BlueBee is for

BlueBee brings listeners into one shared audio room over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Each person connects their own headphones to their own device, while the host shares a supported source and controls the room.

Key features

Designed around a focused job

  1. Create or join a private listening room with a room code or QR invite.

  2. Share permitted device audio with native iPhone, iPad and Android listeners, with foreground web listening as a fallback.

  3. Use a direct audio link or built-in test audio as a controlled source.

  4. Keep one shared room timeline while each listener uses their own headphones or speaker.

  5. Adjust and save timing for the active output route, with an explicit catch-up control after interruptions.

Compatibility

What the experience depends on

  • Every participant needs a reliable connection to the BlueBee relay. A room can include different Wi-Fi or mobile-data connections.
  • Each listener connects headphones or a speaker to their own device in the normal way.
  • Device-audio hosting uses iOS ReplayKit or Android MediaProjection with explicit consent. The operating system and source app decide what can be captured.
  • Browser listeners must enable audio and keep the page in front. Native iOS is the supported Day-1 iPhone path.
  • Output-route latency varies, so a saved per-device timing adjustment may be needed for the closest audible match.
  • Intended: Native iOS is the priority release path, followed by native Android and foreground web listening

Important limitations

Clear boundaries before availability

  • The mobile release candidate is being tested; no download or store approval is announced here.
  • It does not pair one phone directly with many Bluetooth headsets.
  • Protected media may block capture; BlueBee does not bypass that protection.
  • Network conditions and output hardware affect the result. No universal distance or acoustic synchronisation figure is claimed.
  • Live audio currently uses uncompressed PCM and can consume roughly 0.7–0.95 GB per listener-hour. The current room default is eight participants, including the host.
  • The source app may play locally before captured audio reaches listeners. Host mute behaviour depends on the source and operating system.
  • Mac distribution, Android TV and venue features are outside this release.

Safety and responsible use

Know the product boundary

Use a comfortable listening level and share the room code only with intended listeners. Each listener controls their own output and volume. Share only audio you are permitted to share.
