Requirements
LumaRelay is in development. The inspected product requires compatible user-owned lighting hardware for its core synchronisation journey.
- A supported Mac running macOS 15 or later, or a compatible Android TV device for the TV implementation.
- A compatible Philips Hue Bridge and compatible lights.
- A configured Hue Entertainment area for real-time synchronisation.
- The app device and Bridge on the same local network.
An exact tested hardware and firmware matrix is not yet published.
Bridge discovery and pairing
- Confirm the Bridge is powered, online and reachable from the official Hue setup.
- Put the Mac/TV and Bridge on the same main network.
- Open LumaRelay and search for a Bridge or enter its local address if that option is available.
- Press the physical Bridge button only when the pairing screen asks.
- Wait for lights, rooms, scenes and Entertainment areas to load.
Never email a Bridge username, client key, password, router password or private network configuration.
Local-network troubleshooting
If the Bridge is not found:
- allow Local Network access in system settings;
- disconnect a VPN temporarily for a controlled test;
- avoid guest Wi-Fi or client-isolated networks;
- confirm the Bridge and device use compatible network segments;
- check firewall/router isolation; and
- restart the Bridge and app without resetting the lighting system.
Local-network permission is required for Bridge control. Denying it should not be presented as a temporary server error.
Screen and audio permissions
Display synchronisation requires screen-recording/capture permission. Microphone or clap modes require microphone permission. Colour and basic Home controls should work without those permissions.
On macOS, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and review Screen & System Audio Recording or Microphone. Restart LumaRelay when macOS requests it.
Only grant a permission for a mode you intend to use. Stop synchronisation when you no longer want capture to be active.
Entertainment-area problems
If synchronisation will not start:
- confirm an Entertainment area exists and contains compatible lights;
- stop other apps currently using that area;
- reload Bridge resources;
- try a conservative brightness and update-rate setting; and
- stop/restart the session to ensure the area was released.
Compatibility varies by hardware, firmware, network quality and third-party API behaviour.
Forget the Bridge and reset local data
The final release will provide verified steps to forget a Bridge and remove local pairing/configuration data. Until those labels are final, avoid deleting or resetting the Bridge itself merely to troubleshoot LumaRelay.
Uninstalling an app may not always remove platform credential-store entries; final behaviour requires QA verification.
Purchases and subscriptions
No public App Store or Google Play purchase, subscription, restore flow or cancellation route is announced. A development allowance or Pro preview must not be treated as a completed transaction.
Future paid support will be documented only after store products, entitlement, restore, expiry and cancellation are implemented and tested.
Lighting safety
Rapidly changing, bright or high-contrast light can cause discomfort. Start with conservative brightness and effect settings, avoid use where changing light could create a hazard, and stop immediately if anyone feels unwell.
LumaRelay is not a medical device and does not determine whether an effect is safe for a particular person.
